Hockey Tournament.
This coming weekend the Pauly D radio program will cover the Sunshine Shootout hockey tournament in the Tampa Bay area. As a huge hockey fan I felt that helping to promote the sport on every level is a vital part of the growth for the sport. Also as a kid growing up hockey was an every day activity for all the kids in the neighborhood,whether it was deck hockey,roller hockey or ice, we always found a way to play. So go out and play some hockey. When you get home checkout the Pauly D radio program and maybe we will come to your town and cover your hockey tourney next time. First of all Patrick, to mispell Gretzky is far more abhorrent than any call a ref could make or anything Bettman could do. Secondly, these referees and linesmen are supposed to be the "best of the best". That is why they get the call for the Stanley Cup Finals. These guys are the cream of the crop, right? The best of the league don't miss six men on the ice. The best don't miss Zetterberg covering the puck in the crease with his hand. The best don't miss a Penguin player checking a Red Wing into the Penguin goalie. The lack of interference calls when chipping the puck into the zone, both teams. Worse part of that is that Mario and Gretzky complained for YEARS about the clutching/grabbing/interference and that was one reason Mario gave when he retired once. Yet here we are with the interference and guess who hasn't said a word. And yes, the Referee actually makes the right call on Malkin after Game 2 for the instigator. Automatic one game. Regular season or anybody else and the guy gets a game. But in steps Bettman and Campbell to save the series for Pittsburgh with a little "bending" of the Rules. And good thing too, because the Penguins would have been down 3-0 since Malkin basically won Game 3 for Pittsburgh. I am a HOCKEY FAN through and through. The fact that it goes to a Game 7 is awesome and exciting. I don;t care who wins as my favorite team didn't even make the playoffs. But the joke and a half the Referees and Linesmen have displayed this series has more tarnished the NHL image to me than improved it. I hope the best team wins on Friday, and I hope since Bettman got his game 7, he backs off and lets the refs do their jobs correctly!
What a bunch of crap, there were 8 non-calls in the first period alone which should have put Pit short handed for the whole period. What game were they watching, must have been the nba playoffs game until it was time to find anything close enough to call against the wings. Pits off sides for the third time in a row, Oh look a flock of turtles quick call a penalty against the wings. This has been typical of the refs every year throughout the entire playoffs but this year has been so bad it has to be the worst ever officiating playoff season in the entire NHL history. Its obvious its a scam when a ref is three feet away watching the play and does not make the right call or even any call for that matter. Someones getting paid off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fire all the refs and who ever hires them, clean house completely. And then FINE them on top of it for tanking the entire playoff season. Its obviuos they have all been making money betting on the games with the bookies for the entire playoffs. This is not hockey, it isnt even old time hockey. Its a scam and all the fans should be hell bent on demanding action be taken against all the officials. They pulled this same crap against the Sharks not that I ever liked the Sharks yet if the refs had called fair games the Dirty Ducks would not have beaten them. The Sharks were deffinately the better team. Pit does not deserve the cup, they are not the best team and the refs throwing the games does not make them the best it makes them the worst in nhl history. I never thought I would see the day when a team with only one half way decent line could actually cheat to get their names on the cup. What a bunch of losers and how much more money are the refs making from betting against the wings??? What a terrible end to a great season. Ive been a die hard hockey fan my whole life but after this season if the refs throw game 7, not that there would have even been a game 7 if not for the refs , and give the cup to a bunch of dirty playing cheating losers I will never watch another game. You may as well cancel hockey if your going to let the refs determine who wins the cup.
